ERGO International AG, managing the international business portfolio of the ERGO Group, completed the acquisition of the non-life insurance company ADB Gjensidige in the Baltic States on January 2, 2026.

As of now, Gjensidige is part of the ERGO Group. The full merger of both insurers is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026. During the transition period, ERGO and Gjensidige will operate as separate legal entities, though their operational processes will be gradually integrated. The Gjensidige brand will remain in the Baltic insurance market until the merger is complete. The merger was secured following approvals from all competent authorities, including competition supervisors in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This strategic move strengthens ERGO’s position in the Baltic markets, making it the third-largest insurance company by premium volume.

All existing Gjensidige insurance contracts remain valid without any changes—customers do not need to take any further action. Upon completion of the integration, services to Gjensidige customers will be provided by ERGO.
